Lewis A. Jones is a retired attorney, living in Buda, Texas. He is active in numerous genealogical societies including: the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Jamestowne Society, the Flagon and Trencher Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sons of the Confederacy, the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and the Society of the Order of the Southern Cross. He is also a member of the First Families of Tennessee, Mississippi and Texas. He served as President (1998 – 2000) and Chairman of the Board of Directors (2000 – 2004) of the Texas Historical Foundation.
Presently, he is a member of the Sam Houston Society, Friends of the Governor’s Mansion and a Trustee of the Former Texas Rangers Foundation. Furthermore, Mr. Jones is a part owner of the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League.
In 1972, Governor Preston Smith commissioned him as an Admiral in the Texas Navy for his representation of the State of Texas as Assistant Attorney General during the 1971 Legislative and Congressional Redistricting cases.
Mr. Jones was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He has a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a JD from the University Of Texas School Of Law. He honorably served in the United States Army with the 112th Counter-Intelligence Corps. He is married to the Reverend Judith Jones.
