About Patrick Gallagher

As president and founder of Gallagher & Associates, Patrick Gallagher has led the design of some of the world’s most memorable museum experiences, from his long-standing relationship with the Smithsonian Institution, to high-profile projects in Asia, India and Europe. Under his guidance, the firm has gained international acclaim for its leadership in the field of museum planning and experience design.

He has built a philosophy of practice that stands the test of time of more than 30 years: listen to your clients, focus on their visitor’s needs and great design will happen. The company’s foundation is formed on the premise of building strong relationships and on our commitment to excellence in everything we do. Patrick leads our staff of multi-disciplinary designers, each of whom prides themselves on creating highly successful visitor experiences through innovation and integrated design approaches that are cross disciplinary.

Patrick has substantial experience in visioning and creating comprehensive visitor experience strategies. The most successful examples stem from his involvement in planning and development from the ground up. His foresight on projects such as the International Spy Museum complex shaped a new model for one of the most successful and profitable museums today. G&A was one of the first design firms in the United States to fully plan and execute a for- profit model for a museum. The museum complex was credited with helping to shape the face of a vibrant, new downtown area and providing a new business model that was able to thrive during an economic downturn in 2002.

Since that time, Patrick has been involved in the strategic planning and fundraising efforts on a variety of projects, each reporting a high degree of success and longevity. Based upon his strong reputation in the design field, Patrick has served numerous design service organizations and been a part of creating various professional services journals and publications. He served as the President of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD); he was instrumental in the organization’s continuous growth and the broadening of the Society’s design focus.

Patrick received the prestigious SEGD Fellow Award for his significant contribution to the field. His work has received numerous industry awards and his articles have appeared in a variety of design periodicals and international publications. Patrick has served as an adjunct professor and participates frequently in workshops and lecture series, both nationally and internationally.
