Mary Suhm, MBA
Trustee | Dripping Springs, TexasMary Suhm is a distinguished public administrator and longtime civic leader in Dallas. Born in Beaumont, Texas, she earned a B.S. from Lamar University and both an M.S. in Library Science and an M.S. in Business Administration from University of North Texas, where she is recognized as a distinguished alumna. Mary began her career as a public school teacher and librarian. She later joined the City of Dallas administration and rose through the ranks to become Dallas city manager in 2005.
Mary was the first woman to serve as the top civilian executive of the Dallas Police Department. She has played key roles in major civic projects, including the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Latino Cultural Center, the Trinity River redevelopment plan, and the Omni Dallas Hotel. In 2012, she received the Chairman’s Award from Downtown Dallas, Inc.. Mary has since retired to Dripping Springs. She has two grown sons and four grandchildren, and enjoys active vacations, including cycling adventures with her sister.
