Cemetery Preservation Workshop – Covington Cemetery (Wednesday & Thursday)

2-DAY HANDS-ON WORKSHOP.

Held at Covington Cemetery on Wednesday November 4th and Thursday November 5th 

In conjunction with the Lana Hughes Nelson Cemetery Preservation Fund and Texas Cemetery Restoration, the Texas Historical Commission will be hosting a 2-day workshop.

Attendance is capped at 15 registrants.

Registration closes October 21st.

Covington Cemetery November 4th and 5th 

9AM to 4PM each day

Agenda

Day 1 – introductions, headstone cleaning, introduction to headstone leveling

Day 2 – headstone resetting and repair

  Covington Cemetery is located in Covington TX, which is northwest of Hillsboro. The cemetery has access to a pavilion and portable toilet. Lunch will not be provided and, as the locations will be rural, attendees should bring their own lunches and drinking water.  Participants should plan on wearing gardening-like attire and bring chairs, gloves, a hat and other similar items that they might require.

In the case of rain, THC staff will reschedule the workshop to spring 2027.
