Real Places Conference
Every year, the Real Places Conference brings together those who make historic preservation in Texas happen. This conference gives public officials, stewards, and professionals from the fields of preservation a platform to listen to, learn from, and share ideas with other leaders.

In celebration of its enduring partnership with the Texas Historical Commission, the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission is hosting Tastes of Texas – Along the El Camino Real de los Tejas, an evening celebrating Texas history and preservation, through a theme of “Texas Foodways”. As part of this special year’s event, scheduled for OCtober 9th at the UT-Austin Etter-Harbin Alumni Center, the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission board is thrilled to have José Ralat, Editor at Texas Monthly join us as our keynote presenter.
During this event, the FTHC will also present the second “Julian Read Award for Philanthropy in Preservation”. The FTHC Board is honored to present this award to the Texas Land Title Association, for its leadership and long-time support for the sustained stewardship of the jewels of Texas history—the historic Texas courthouses—through their seventeen-year long support of the THC’s Courthouse Stewardship Program.
