Kristine Navarro-McElhaney

Kristine Navarro-McElhaney is the Assistant Director of the Voces Oral History Center at the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication.

Prior to her current position, Kristine served as Chief of Operations and Special Initiatives for the Historic Sites Division at the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. She served as Director of the Institute of Oral History at the University of Texas at El Paso from 2000 to 2014, as Research Administrator at the Arizona State University’s School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies from 2015 to 1019, as, and as the Interim Executive Director of the Oral History Association from 2016 to 2018.  During her time at UT-El Paso, Kristine served as a primary investigator in the Bracero Archive Project, a partnership of organizations that interviewed former braceros throughout Mexico and the U.S.

Kristine brings to the Friends Board of Trustees her detailed-oriented administrative experience in fiscal management, and in oversight and implementation of significant public history projects, and  a comprehensive knowledge of organizational and financial administration of centers of higher education and public history based non-profit professional service organizations.
